A TRIP WHICH
WORTHES BY THREE
Barracão seems predestined to welcome. The name of the municipality refers to a hostel that, in the past, served as a resting point for the tropeiros. Time has passed, but the hospitable vocation persists. The city has become a major tourist destination and receives many visitors. After all, geographic location makes it unique in the world. When making a border with the city of Santa Catarina of Dionísio Cerqueira, considered twin, and with Bernardo de Irigoyen, in Argentina, Barracão becomes three borders and can reunite two countries, three States and three municipalities in the same point. In that case, you can take a chimarrão with the Santa Catarina neighbor on the other side of the street. And crossing a sidewalk can be a real international trip!
But not only peculiarities live this place. With 11 thousand inhabitants, the municipality produces grain, milk and is strong in foreign trade due to its proximity to Argentina. The cultural diversity resulting from the coexistence between Italian, German and Arab immigrants, as well as caboclos and the Argentine neighbors, adds great cultural value to the curious city. Get to know!
WHAT TO DO
The Brazil/Argentina Integration Lake is a great place for hiking or biking. Do you prefer something more radical? You can do trails, horseback riding or bathe in the rivers and waterfalls that adorn the city.
A special party, which is the face of the city, always happens in June - it is the São João da Fronteira. At the end of the year, it has music, celebration and beauty with the Christmas Cantata.
In April, the Cavalcade of Santa Emilia de Rodat takes place. The event brings together hundreds of traditionalists who ride for about 300 km to the Sanctuary, which is in the District of Siqueira Bello, within the municipality. Already on Good Friday, the Via Sacra de Rua attracts thousands of faithful with the staging of the Passion and Death of Christ.
THE FOUR SEASONS OF THE DAY
As it is 835 meters above sea level, Barracão presents a lot of climatic variation. You can see spring, summer, fall and winter features on the same day! In addition, the summer is very hot and the winter is strict, with negative temperatures. It is good to prepare a very varied bag!
The proximity between Brazil and Argentina made the portunhol the "local language". So do not worry, because there are usually no communication problems.
EYE IN THE POSTES
An easy way to locate yourself in the tripartite region is to observe the streetlights. Those of Paraná are square. If they are round, it is because you are in Santa Catarina.
