NATURE AND FAITH
The proximity to Santa Catarina and the German immigration are strong marks of Rio Negro. Located in the southeast of Paraná, the municipality is on the border with the city of Santa Catarina, demarcating the border between the two states.
First to receive Germanic peoples in Paraná, the municipality is the only one in Brazil to have a colony of German immigrants from Bucovino - coming from a region located between Ukraine and Romania. The city owes much of its growth to these people. With their help, Rio Negro generates wealth with cultivation and processing of tobacco and wood, strong industries and dairy farming.
A place where frost is frequent, Rio Negro has hospitable people and many tourist attractions. It is an excellent option for those who come or are already in Paraná.
WHAT TO DO
Municipality of great rural extension, Rio Negro has several agricultural properties open to rural tourism. Visitors can go horseback or tractor, taste the delights of homemade food and still buy colonial products. The fruit harvest season, from December to June, is the ideal time for the walk.
Schedule a city tour. On the way, you will be able to appreciate bucolic landscapes, architecture, customs, striking events and the curiosities of Rio Negro. The history of the municipality is registered in the Historic Center, which has the Maria da Glória Municipal Archive, the former Forum building, the Rio Negro and XV de Novembro Street.
The city offers several sporting events, free or competition, such as: The Project of hiking and pedaling in the nature, half marathon, adventure race, motocross trails and family pedals.
Devotees and architectural connoisseurs have many options of religious temples to visit in Rio Negro. Among them, the churches of the Good Lord of the Column stand out; Our Lady Aparecida; and Evangelicals of the Lutean Confession. The Grutinha of Our Lady of Schöststtat and the old Seminary Francisco São Luis de Tolosa also provide a beautiful walk.
VISIT THE FAIR OF THE MOON AND THE FAIR OF ORGANIC FAMILY AGRICULTURE
Every Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm there is the Moon Fair in Praça João Pessoa. The tents offer the best of German, Bucovina and Polish cuisines, plus gourmet snacks and colonial products. In the same place, only on Fridays, it is the turn of the Organic Family Farming Fair, where the best natural products are marketed in the morning.
KNOW THE ASSOART SHOPS
The Association of Artisans of Rio Negro - ASSOART - sells products from more than 40 associates, in two stores. The items are made from corn husk, other natural fibers, wood, bamboo, fabrics and yarns. There are also sales of honey, delicacies and products of family farming.
DELIGHT WITH A COLONIAL COFFEE
In June, the German Association Trier promotes a famous and irresistible colonial coffee. The menu offers its own culinary delights.

Within an environmental reserve known as Mata das Araucárias, the building of the current headquarters of the Municipal Public Power resembles a medieval European castle and stands on the top of a hill surrounded by greenery. In the area, there is a tourist complex open to visitation, which has chapel, historical museum, environmental center, cineteatro and craft shop.
A crib and oratory made of corn husk, respectively, represent the birth and main passages of the life of Jesus Christ. The site also offers a leisure area and 4,000 meters of trails. Admission is free.
João Pessoa Square
Cut off by lighted walks and filled with charming objects of the time, such as a German leveler machine powered by firewood, Praça João Pessoa is the ideal place for those looking for tranquility.
Metal Bridge Doctor Diniz Assis Hening
Standing on the river Negro, the Metal Bridge Doctor Diniz Assis Hening is surrounded by legends. The 110 meters of the structure, which accompany the river from margin to margin, would have been the result of a miscalculation. According to experts, the measure would need to be larger to facilitate navigation and reduce the risk of flooding. Another version says that the failure occurred in the dispatch of the factory, which would have sent to the city another bridge, not that commissioned. The work was registered as State Patrimony of Paraná and Santa Catarina.
Parish Lord Bom Jesus da Coluna
The Church of the Paróquia Lord Bom Jesus da Coluna presents architecture in Romanesque style, characterized by round arches, low walls and large columns. The pulpit was fully restored and transferred to the interior of the building in 2006. In 1859, the original building was transferred from the left bank of the Negro River to the present location.
Boardwalk Albany Bussmamm
The Albany Bussmamm Promenade, next to João Pessoa Square, is the main meeting point of the city. They are 1570 square meters of much leisure and fun.
HOW TO ARRIVE
The main access road to Rio Negro is BR-116, which is tolled. The PR-281 crosses the municipality, going from Lapa to Piên. Up to Curitiba, are 110 km and two toll plazas.
WHERE TO STAY
The city has simple but cozy hotels and inns.
The municipality does not have a typical dish officially instituted, but the day-day consecrated Aluske, made with cabbage, rice and sausage, as the best representative of local cuisine. Because of the Polish and German colonization, delicacies like the pierogue and the cuca are also quite consumed.
The city's restaurant chain offers everything from the classic buffet to more elaborate dishes.
The popular festivals and the integral properties of rural tourism are also good opportunities to taste local delights.
