ARAPONGAS, THE CITY ​​​​​​OF THE BIRDS

It is the only city in the country where all streets have bird names, including the name of the municipality. Chupa-dente, Alma de Gato, Bagageiro, Caçador-de-Árvore, Andarilho, Asa-de-Telha, Negafa e Barbudo-de-Coroa are just a few examples of city names.

The municipality of Arapongas is located in the Metropolitan Region of Londrina, Microregion of Apucarana and Meso-region of North-Central Paranaense. It is located at a distance of 380 kilometers from the state capital, Curitiba. Due to the power of industry, commerce and the quality of services, it is one of the most developed municipalities in Paraná. Arapongas has, according to IBGE, an estimated population of 121,198 people. It is route to Mercosul (through PR 444) and is also served by rail and airport.

PARKS

Arapongas has squares, parks, hiking trails, runs, and lawns for picnics, such as the Birds' Park , Nations Park , Saudade Square  and Mauá Square .
 

FURNITURE TRADE FAIRS

The city promotes furniture fairs such as Movelpar and FIQ (International Quality Fair in Machinery, Raw Materials and Accessories for the Furniture Industry).
 

GASTRONOMIC FAIR

The festival has several options for gastronomy, leisure and activities for all audiences. When it comes to food, the options are the most varied. With the presence of several restaurants and chefs, the event brings drinks and options of different cuisines involving the specialties with avocado. KNOW THE PARK OF THE BIRDS
For those who travel with family or want to relax after meetings, the tip is to enjoy the Bird Park. The environmental complex is one of the city's 45,000-square-foot postcards, three lakes, hiking trails and leisure facilities.

KNOW THE SACRED CHURCH HEART OF JESUS
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church is a reference, for its architectural beauty in colonial style. The altar tiles have gold details and the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is framed in Baroque style.

MAHRA – Museum of Art and History of Arapongas
Installed on the premises of the old railway station of the city, the museum is housed in an old historical building that housed the municipal administration between 1955 and 2010. The collection counts on regional works of art, disks, play the disc, lamps, photos and documents that reveal the data of the city, since its foundation in 1947. Also part of the collection are instruments that go back to the temporal reconstruction of the public spaces of the municipality, such as the cinema and the school of the region.

Municipal Market
It was the main commercial center of the 1950s, an era essentially agricultural, quite before the emergence of the locomotive called the furniture industry, which currently boosts the city's economy. Revitalized, the building retains the original features of the facade, but follows the trends of modern architecture in its internal structure.

Mauá Cine Theater​​​​​​
Cine Mauá has a capacity for 1,200 people, aimed at attending cultural programming, such as ballet and theater. It also functions as an event center.

Fair Station (Fair of the Moon)
The Fair of the Moon is the most famous exhibition in Arapongas, which combines gastronomy, leisure and handicrafts. It is in the old Railway Station Agency (AGEF).

José Chiappin Municipal Stadium
House of Arapongas Esporte Clube. Also known as the Birds Stadium, due to the huge flow of birds in the city. The stadium underwent a remodeling in April 2009, for Arapongas games in the Access Division of the Paranaense Soccer Championship.

Leaving Curitiba by BR 376, the trip by car takes about 5 hours. By bus, about 8 hours. There is also the Alberto Bertelli Regional Airport​​​​​​ .

GASTRONOMY

The city of Arapongas is a strong avocado producer. The fruit is present in the local gastronomy, including in fairs. The Egg and Avocado Fair seeks to rescue the tradition of the Quermesses and spread the local history and culture, as well as having a menu filled with curious and tasty dishes involving the fruit, such as avocado pudding, brigadeiro, potato chips with avocado sauce, etc.
