THE PARANÁ
GEOGRAPHY
Located in the southern region of the country, Paraná occupies an area of 199,554 km², which corresponds to 2.3% of the total area of Brazil. The state currently has 399 municipalities.
There are five natural areas of the state: the Coastal, the Serra do Mar, the First, Second and Third Planaltos. Everyone reserves pleasant surprises in the various segments of tourism.
Paraná is subdivided into two main hydrographic basins: the Paraná River and the Atlantic drainage basin complex.
The coast of Paraná has 98 km of extension and counts on one of the most important bays of the South of Brazil, the one of Paranaguá. They are 300 km ² of area, where the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina stand out.
CLIMATE
The average state temperature is 18.5ºC, with two predominant climates. One of them, the tropical, mainly influences the North, West and Coastal regions. In these areas, average temperatures are around 22 ° C. The other, the subtropical or temperate, predominates in the Center-South regions, and leaves the thermometers varying, on average, between 10 ° C and 22 ° C.
ECONOMY
In the economy, Paraná stands out as one of the largest agricultural producers in Brazil, accounting for around 20.2% of Brazilian grain production. Among the most relevant crops are wheat, corn, beans, cotton, soybeans, coffee, cassava, sugar cane and yerba mate. The State also excels in poultry, pig and dairy cattle and dairy farming.
INDUSTRY
In the industrial sector, the agribusiness is highlighted, as well as food, fertilizer, cement and the production of electro-electronics and metal-mechanics. Paraná is among the main exporting states of the country, with a GDP of R $ 332,837 billion (Ipardes/2013).
ROAD MACHINE
Currently, the highway network of the State of Paraná has 15,818.18 km of highways, of which 13,507.81 km are paved highways. In the energy sector, the installed capacity is approximately 18,000 MW, generated in 118 projects.
POPULATION
With a population of over 11 million (IBGE / 2017), the state is made up of descendants of several ethnic groups, including Poles, Italians, Germans, Ukrainians, Dutch, Spaniards and Japanese, who joined here to the Indians, Portuguese and Black - the three basic elements that formed the people and culture of Paraná. This miscegenation made Paraná known as the "Land of All Nations".
The main cities of Paraná are: Curitiba, Londrina, Cascavel, Ponta Grossa, Maringá, Guarapuava and Foz do Iguaçu.
