Prudentópolis

OF GIANT WATERFALLS
Located in the center-south region of the state, colonized by Ukrainian immigrants, Prudentópolis is blessed by nature. Cradle of the Rio Ivaí, the city of 50 thousand inhabitants has several canyons and waterfalls, and the privilege of sheltering the largest waterfalls in the South of Brasil, like the Salto São Francisco, with 196 meters of height!
Besides the giant waterfalls, the city, which is the largest producer of black beans in Brazil, has calm streets and cozy places. Dozens of Catholic churches of Ukrainian Byzantine and Latin rites with their beautiful architectures enchant the tourists who visit them.

Located in public properties and some private ones, the waterfalls are the main attraction of Prudentópolis, besides the trails and the vegetation that dazzle the visitors.
RELIGIOUS TOURISM
Known as the Capital of Prayer, Prudentópolis has more than 100 churches, including the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace and the churches of the Ukrainian Byzantine Rite, celebrations held in the Ukrainian language.
LOCAL COZINESS
With quiet streets and hospitable people, the houses inside the municipality draw attention to the details of its buildings and its gardens. The main avenue of the city has three squares for visitation.

It is possible to practice abseiling, zipline and other activities in preservation areas in the region.

BLACK BEAN FEAST
Capital of the Black Bean, Prudentópolis holds, always in August, the traditional event of the city, which is known for producing the largest black bean feijoada, made in the world's largest pot, recorded in the Guinness Book, the book of records.

Traditional religious and cultural event, in which in addition to characteristic celebrations, the Easter Bazaar stands out with typical products and handicrafts, food blessing, vigil to the Holy Shroud and cultural presentation of the Group of Cossacks.

TOURS
Church of Saint Josaphat
Built between 1925 and 1928, in Byzantine style, and listed by the historical patrimony of Paraná, the church has five vaults, four of them represent the arms of the cross. Inside the temple, it is possible to appreciate the artistic decoration, has as a focus the iconostase, a collection of icons that represent the history of salvation.
Natural Heritage Site Salto São João
Between one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the south of the country, the Salto São João, with 86 meters, impresses with the scenery and the exuberance of its landscape. The fall can be contemplated by two viewpoints: the first viewpoint has total accessibility and the second allows a beautiful walk on an open and signposted trail, overlooking the head of Salto. The place has parking lots, visitor center with amphitheater, restrooms and craft shop. The way to get to the place is also worth it as a beautiful tour. It is possible to appreciate beautiful landscapes of fields and pine forests, besides some typical houses that mark the colonization of the region.
Millennium Museum
With a rich historical, cultural and religious material and immaterial heritage, the place allows to understand the culture and the traditions of the Ukrainian immigrants and their descendants, being the main point of visitation and research in relation to the immigration of Prudentópolis.
HOW TO ARRIVE
The city is cut by BR-277 and BR-373. The distance from Curitiba to Prudentópolis is 207 km, from Foz do Iguaçu it is 450 km.
WHERE TO STAY
Even though it is not a metropolis, Prudentópolis has hotels and inns ready to host tourists.
GASTRONOMY
The influence of Ukrainian immigration is focused on the cuisine of Prudentópolis. Krakow, typical product of the city, is a stuffed noble and smoky pork, very similarity of a sausage, known nationally.
Apart from Krakow, there is also brosch, a traditional cabbage and beet soup; the varéneke, a cake cooked with various fillings; the holubtsi, cabbage cigar stuffed with buckwheat, kibble or rice; and kutiá, a sweet dish based on wheat seeds cooked with spices, accompanied by homemade beer, with hop-based fermentation.
