A city with several attractions for you! From peaceful country life to adventures, Sapopema is located in Northern Parana, 120 km from Londrina and 300 km from Curitiba. The name of the municipality comes from Tupi-Guarani (sapo = raiz and pema = esquinada), which means roots of large, thick, flat trees projecting out of the earth.
The foundation of the municipality is connected to the construction of the Angelo Ferrário Lopes Highway, the Estrada do Cerne, which leads to Curitiba and Alvorada do Sul, near the border of Paraná and São Paulo. The works began in the 1930s, when a house was built near the tree called Sapopema, around the highway. From there, many people, mainly travelers, arrived and settled in the area.
The municipality stands out for the natural beauties like waterfalls, mountains, grottos and caves. Because of this, it attracts visitors interested in adventure tourism, such as abseiling, trekking, cycle tourism and more. Sapopema has approximately 7 thousand inhabitants, which are divided between urban and rural areas.

It is not only the adventure tourism that stands out in the city, but there is also the rest in the countryside. There are 45 natural attractions cataloged, of which 11 are visited. Pico Agudo is the main attraction of the municipality in terms of the number of visitors.

Pico Agudo
Considered the highest peak in northern Paraná, approximately 1,100 meters above sea level, Pico Agudo is located in the São Luiz II settlement, 30 km from the city center. To get to the highest point of the mountain, it is necessary to walk a trail of 3.5 km, with medium to high difficulty. It is a wonderful experience! Great option to connect with nature.
Salto das Orquídeas
Located in the Lajeadinho neighborhood, 3.5 km from the city center, the place has a set of waterfalls that delight visitors passing by. The main waterfall is 42.75 meters high. On local there is a snack bar, camping area with hot showers, lighting, and restrooms.
HOW TO ARRIVE
The main access to the municipality is by PR-090. Sapopema is 300 km from Curitiba and 120 km from Londrina.

The tourist infrastructure of Sapopema includes several means of lodging. There are hotels, inns, camping, farms, sites, houses and ranches with rooms for renting.
GASTRONOMY
Rural cooking is mouth-watering! There are dishes such as caipira chicken, pork in the pan and the pururuca of tilapia. The municipality also has restaurants and delicious snack bars.
